Usability and Reflection
The Blended Learning English Language Arts - Narrative Writing Skills for Bilingual Students course is designed for second-grade students, specifically focusing on English writing skills. To ensure that the topics covered in the modules align with the course outcomes, I decided to follow the Amplify curriculum, which I currently utilize in my language classroom, focusing on the dual-language program.
I chose this particular group of students as they have been in my class for over four months and have previously taken English language arts courses with the same curriculum, which has proven to be very effective. Amplify's materials are designed to be interactive and adaptive, allowing students to practice writing skills individually and at their own pace. Their input in module resources, activities, and discussions will be valuable, as digital tools and multimedia resources will make learning more engaging and accessible for students, potentially increasing their motivation and commitment to writing.
I developed a module to enable my students to better understand the objectives and expectations of each lesson. In addition to helping students encourage proactive initiative, I implemented diverse writing strategies in both English and Spanish within a dual-language model.
Furthermore, there were corrections to be made to perfect my work. Here is feedback on improvements to the online course...
Given these reasons, the module was adjusted to achieve improvements for the benefit of both students and teachers who will use it. The photo shows the instructional design before and after the corrections, where, upon the recommendation of the Multilingual Coach, adjustments were made regarding clarity in module titles to make them clear and descriptive.
By implementing this practice, I align it perfectly with our goals of promoting clarity and accessibility in bilingual education in my instructional design. With these recommendations, I can enhance the effectiveness of my course and create a more engaging and enriching learning experience for bilingual students.
