LEARNING MANIFIESTO

Since I was a child, I have been passionate about the desire to help others, educate, convey a positive message, and motivate others to see learning as a powerful tool that fosters personal growth. Upon arriving in the United States, I have been able to pursue my passion, which is educating children in learning English as a second language.  During this time, I have noticed that the education of children who are learning a second language can present some challenges, such as linguistic barriers, as language can be a barrier to learning and communication, as well as a lack of resources. The U.S. education system faces several challenges and shortcomings when it comes to English language learning for Spanish speakers, and the most significant one, in my experience, is the emphasis on standardized tests, which leads to a teaching approach centered on test preparation rather than a more comprehensive focus on language and communication development. Another issue is inadequate assessment methods that may not be suitable for measuring the progress of students learning English as a second language. This can result in unfair assessments and a lack of support for students in need of additional intervention.  In my opinion, the fundamental belief systems about digital learning for Spanish speakers can vary among individuals based on their experiences. However, in general, digital learning promotes online communication and collaboration among students and instructors, facilitating the exchange of ideas and collective knowledge construction. Digital technologies allow for the adaptation and personalization of learning to meet the individual needs of students, including Spanish speakers who may have varying levels of proficiency in Spanish.  Digital learning for Spanish speakers offers significant opportunities for lifelong education, access to information, and the development of English language skills, contributing to personal growth and development.  Technology plays a fundamental role in the learning of English as a second language for Spanish speakers as it provides a range of resources and tools that can enrich the learning experience. The support of technology in education has become a significant research topic, and numerous studies have highlighted the benefits of technology in learning. Technology also contributes to the development of essential digital skills (Warschauer, 2003). Technology can have a positive impact on education by improving access to educational resources, personalizing learning, fostering collaboration and interaction, and providing effective feedback and assessment. Technology has become a powerful tool to enhance the educational experience.  With my project for blended learning for Spanish speakers, several advantages and collaboration opportunities can be offered to this population in the educational process. For instance, creating a blended learning environment where students can collaborate online, discuss topics, share resources, and work together on projects facilitates joint knowledge construction.  Similarly, the community can be impacted by creating collaborative online projects where students can work together to solve real-world problems and apply their knowledge to the English language.    It is important to note that the education of children learning a second language in the United States can vary significantly depending on the region, school district, and community. In general, addressing these challenges requires a comprehensive approach that includes language support programs, adequate resources, and a deep understanding of the needs of students and their families. Furthermore, promoting inclusion and equity in the education system is essential to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed.  In my idea of this project, the various innovative practices that can be implemented in a blended learning environment for Spanish speakers wishing to learn English can enhance the effectiveness of learning and promote active student participation. These practices will be crucial in ensuring that Spanish-speaking students have equal opportunities in their education and can successfully acquire English as a second language.
